Piccini: “Valencia is our home and the Valencian people are our people”
The former Valencia CF footballer has helped those affected by the DANA storm with over 3,000 kg of food
Immediately after the draw with Granada CF on Matchday 2, coach José Bordalás reflected on the performance in his post-match press conference.
The competitive character shown by the team
"The team made a great effort. They tried and we had a magnificent first half; we had chances to go into the break in the lead, and it's a shame about that goal in which we were overconfident in defence, but the team tried and in the second half we managed to equalise. They made changes and they freshened up their team, which was normal. The team tried to the end, and I congratulate the players on the draw. They put in a great effort and I think it's a fair result."
News regarding Marcos André
"I cannot comment on anything that is not to do with the game today, which is what we are focusing on. Another day we can speak about this."
Generating scoring chances but lacking effectiveness
"As a team, we lacked a little calm in the final meters and perhaps we rushed the final pass and the finish. The most important thing is that the team competed until the end. I want to congratulate the team, as I said before."
If a lack of substitutions is a message that signings are needed
"No, it is not a message. It just means that the team were playing well. I had a good feeling, the players were trying and it was a matter of time. It was what I considered correct as a coach. It is not a message."
Competing from start to finish
"We had a great team in front of us. Granada CF have had very good seasons, they have a very strong base, are a very physical team and they are very difficult opponents. The matches have been very close so far, which is something that we are seeing at the start of LaLiga, but I take away the feeling we have, and we must continue growing and improving. The season is going to be very hard, very demanding, and all the teams are competing at a very high level."
On Pellegrini saying that LaLiga is very monotonous
"I respect all opinions, and that is the opinion of a colleague whom I respect a lot, but I have nothing to comment on that."
Several players receiving medical attention
"It was a very noble game, very fiercely disputed, and the players gave everything in for every ball, but always with nobility. Time was lost because it was necessary to attend to several players, but it was a competitive, noble match with a fair result."
Granada CF's approach
"We realised before the match, because of the starting eleven, since there were three centre backs. We understood that they were going to play 3-5-2, and we interpreted it well. Last week we faced a Getafe CF side with the same formation and we did well. The only regret is the result. The team had a great first half and I think we deserved more."
On a possible departure for players like Guedes
"I am convinced that players will come in. I have full confidence because the team need it. Right now we are not thinking about the possibility of any player leaving, although between now and the transfer market closing we do not know what may happen. If there is an offer for a player that is economically interesting, it will be studied. This is how football works, but right now I have no news that anyone is going to leave."
